December 2008
December has started off with a beautiful display in the night-time sky: a sliver of a crescent moon joining both Jupiter and Venus in the early evening. With so few lights around here, their show is quite a sight to behold.
One of my neighbors has spotted a couple of whales who have already made it south for the migratory season. I'll have to start keeping my eye out for them. I guess that means that the busy season will be ramping up in the Los Cabos area as people come to spend the holidays on the beach, taking a respite from the chilly weather up north.
I take those two indicators as auspicious signs that the final push for our construction effort will be a productive one. The facilities are really taking shape as we finish the floors, add the cabinetry, complete the pergolas, weld the railings, texture the pool and hot tub, and return for a final coat of paint. There's still plenty to keep us busy, but the form has begun to coalesce and it's now easier to see what the final picture will look like.
Right now the most crucial components that we're awaiting here is all of our solar power equipment. We have over 160 solar modules — along with all the attendant inverters, pumps, cables, and additional mechanical equipment — on order, and it will be very exciting to get all of that installed so that we can power almost everything from the sun.
